UPDATES…and a show next week, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th

Six months?  It’s been six months since my last update??  This won’t do.  OK, my upcoming Rosh Hashanah’s resolution (the equivalent of a New Year’s resolution, but a few months sooner) will be to update MUCH more frequently.  That being said…

My one-woman show in L.A. at the Gardenia was a wonderful success.  I had a great crowd and just felt in my element.  The comedic numbers went over beautifully, as did the ballads.  With that under my belt, I took the show to Palm Springs and then to New York, where it was also really well-received.  :) It’s just a fun show about, well, ME:  the kind of music that inspired me to perform, how my height was somewhat of an obstacle in my pursuit of a career (in character shoes, I’m about 6 ft tall), my romantic endeavors — but it’s all done with humor.  My director and creator of the show, Bruce Kimmel, did a fabulous job in really understanding who I am and then tailoring the show to me.  I’m now looking to return to New York with the show right after the first of the year (the ACTUAL New Year’s, not Rosh Hashanah…I know, it gets confusing).

Right now, I’m gearing up to be a part of a long-running show called Kritzerland at the Gardenia, produced and directed by Bruce Kimmel.  Every month, a different well-known composer is celebrated with the highlights of his catalog, as well as the little-heard gems that are just as superb.  This month, it’s the music of Frank Loesser (“Guys and Dolls”, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying”, “The Most Happy Fella…”)   I get to perform three terrific songs (including the opener, which has an EXCELLENT arrangement).  It’s a one-night only performance, so if you’re in the area (West Hollywood, CA), come by!  The cast is always comprised of extremely talented performers, most from Broadway or national touring companies.  The show is Wednesday, Sept. 7th @ 9PM.  The Gardenia – 7066 Santa Monica Blvd., West Hollywood, CA. Reservations recommended as it sells out pretty fast: (323) 467-7444.  I’ll definitely post how it goes!
