Gotta keep more up to date with these posts…

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything, I know.  My Rosh Hashanah resolution is to be more on top of that. OK, so, here’s what I’ve been up to…

Earlier this year, I was cast as the Queen in Storybook Theatre’s Sleeping Beauty. I had such a fun time with that show and was thrilled to hear that, after a summer hiatus, we were asked back to play through January! I’m pretty lucky that it’s a small, yet talented cast whom I get to work with, so it makes going to the theatre each week a treat. In addition, I was asked to be part of a fundraiser, which is coming up on Monday. I did a musical a while ago with the producer of this event. When he asked if I would be a part of it, the answer was an immediate yes. Especially because the theme of the show is Broadway in Reverse. The idea behind this is that women sing songs that are traditionally sung by men in musicals and then vice versa for the guys. We’re having tech rehearsal tomorrow night and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll also get a mini reunion with some singers whom I haven’t seen in a while, which will be fun.

I’ve also been working on an EP with extremely talented David P. Johnson. Not only is he a phenomenal musician who is playing all of the instrumentation on every track, he is also arranging and producing. As if that weren’t enough, he composed all but one of the songs and sings on three of them. If it sounds like I’m a big fan of his, I am. I’m thrilled that I get to introduce a song that was written specifically for me…a very funny jazz-flavored number called “I Like…”  We’re looking to release this EP by the end of the year.  I’ll definitely keep you posted on this…

Warmly,

Laura
